Our Thoughts

The GR1 is the toughest, yet most expensive bag we've seen. The bottom is bombproof, the laptop sleeve is designed to hold steel plates for training, and this bag is certified for use by the special forces.

This bag will probably last until you for the rest of your life and through the alien invasion. You could be defending the earth from the worst, meanest, and cruelest alien overlords this world has experienced but still have all your stuff nicely packed.

The carry-on has one drawback, or interesting quirk, depending on how you look at it. All the extras typically found in other bags, like a water bottle holder, cost extra for the GR1. I'm not a huge water drinker so I don't mind if the bag is missing that feature. In fact, in a small way, I like being able to customize and save a few ounces.

Premium Carry-On

The GR1 is the most premium one bag you can buy. Other carry-ong could have the pockets you want, but the GR1 is unmatched in durability and quality.

πŸ‘ Reasons to Buy

  • Superb craftsmanship and well put together.
  • Lifelong companion: The materials used are so reliable and durable that even special forces use this bag.
  • The laptop compartment is really secured and features a false bottom.

πŸ€” Things to Consider

  • Can be a bit big as an everyday carry bag.
  • Limited external organization and could use some more external pockets.
  • The straps and suspension are really stiff during break-in period.

πŸ’¬ Reviewers Have Said

  • "This bag is built to withstand for generations. The 21L is the perfect EDC size."
  • "Used my GR1 since 2013. It's beastly. Well-made, spacious, can take a beating and won't let you down. When people say GR1 is a BIFL, that's absolutely true."

GORUCK GR1 REVIEW

"A simple, understated, powerful bag that will gladly see you through anything in life."

GoRuck GR1 Review
www.gearhacker.com

"The GoRuck GR1 will be the last EDC Backpack that you ever need. It does merge slightly into the one-bag travel sizing, but I think that helps to show its adaptability. The main compartment is large, and the laptop pocket will hold up to a 16” laptop and is solid—no worries there."

GORUCK GR1 Backpack Review
pangolinswithpacks.com

"Overall, the GR1 is a pretty simple bag. The features and organizational design are straightforward. What GORUCK is known for (hardcore durability) is definitely reflected in the bag."
