The laptop pocket is lined with an incredibly soft material and is padded, so it will protect your laptop well. There is a flat pocket in front of that, that will easily store a paper notebook or a smaller tablet. The main compartment is very narrow but would fit a school book, possibly two. There is a zipper pouch that would fit something flat and thin. The outside compartment has a zipper area at the top, that has little pockets inside. There is a hanging hook for keys and a place for your cellphone. There is also a place for pens. The very bottom zipper pouch would fit something small."
