Reasons to buy
- Highly durable and robustly constructed.
- This bag is specifically designed for women's body types with narrower shoulder straps and more padded hip straps than that of Farpoint.
- The harness system is completely stowable which makes the whole bag compact and dangle-free. This is truly useful when you need to store your bag in tight spaces such as overhead cabins. It is also quite comfortable to use even for extended periods of time.
- Can pack more than it seems according to some users.
Things to consider
- The laptop compartment location isn't the most optimal one.
- The front compartment space is quite affected when the main compartment is full.
- The water bottle pockets are located at the front instead of the sides. It is quite hard to reach when you're using the pack.

The differences between the Farpoint and Fairview are minimal at first glance, but when you’re carrying this pack at full weight you’ll notice a level of comfort that you’d never be able to achieve with the men’s version. For the travel-conscious women out there, by no means do you have to buy a bag designed specifically for women. That being said, carrying the Osprey Fairview was a pleasant surprise for the women on our team.

For now, the Fairview 40 is the best backpack I’ve ever had. It’s also one of the best backpacking backpacks available right now. It’s sturdy, durable and very comfy, same like all Osprey backpacks I’ve had a chance to try on. It looks good, and the color (Rainforest Green) is lovely, too. Because of the green color, it will be easy to spot it among other bags on the baggage carousel.
