Our verdict
Reasons to buy
- Really lightweight to use.
- Provides excellent ventilation to your back because of its suspended-mesh Airspeed Hikelite backpanel.
- The front "shove-it" pocket is really functional as you can chuck your sweater and other things in there.
- Comes with a rain cover that would protect your things from sudden heavy downpours.
Things to consider
- Offers minimal organization.
- The side mesh pockets are wide and aren't that deep so it feels less secure.
What reviewers said
- "Love the pack. Does everything I need it to, I'm 5'11" 220lb, has a good fit, (the) breathable back design is very nice. I don't use the waist strap. My reyleo 32 oz water bottles fit just fine in the side pockets and they don't fall out."
- "Great pack, was able to fit everything and more in it! Absolutely love that it has a cage in it, helps support a heavier pack!"
- "This pack is great. I am the kind of hiker that packs for every situation and I have plenty of room. I hike 5 to 8+ miles every day in every kind of weather. The rain cover is an added plus. It is very comfortable."
- "This is the perfect pack for a solid (10miles plus) day pack. Plenty of capacity, useful pockets, and the built-in rain cover make a big difference for those unplanned rain showers. Best of all, this pack keeps your back cool. The slim design is nice too."

Osprey Hikelite Review (Is It The Ultimate Hiking Backpack?)

If you go hiking often, then yes, definitely get the Hikelite. It has a ton of cool features that will make your hiking trips more enjoyable, such as the integrated rain cover and the compression straps that double as trekking pole attachments. The innovative, ventilated back panel will also keep you very comfortable during your outdoor adventures, and ensure that your back stays as dry as a bone. Well, unless it’s a thousand and one degrees outside, but that’s not really the back panel’s fault. :>

In the conclusion of this Osprey Hikelite 26 Pack review, I would stress that this is a very versatile unisex pack, big enough for light day hiking tours and good enough for commuting and for the city use. It has good features for both aspects of such a use. This is a reliable Osprey’s product, fully recommended.
