Our thoughts
The 5.11 Rush 12 is a military-style carry-on with tons of compartments, lash points, molle platform, and hydration.
This multi-purpose bag will easily let you survive the rainforest (if we don't burn it down), aggressive tuk-tuk drivers, and aggressive airport security checkpoints.
Compartments and Organization
Military-style bags come with lots of compartments and pockets that suit international travelers who bring a little bit of everything. Conventional single-compartment backpacks aren't designed to be lived out of like the Tactical Rush carry-on.
People go to school with conventional single-compartments bags. This bag was designed for travel, and camping, hiking, hunting, and other use cases other bags aren't built to handle.
Our verdict
Reasons to buy
- Very well built and extremely durable. This might stick for you for a lifetime....or even more.
- Highly customizable and flexible because of the attachments you can put on the molle of this bag.
- The front compartment is truly spacious. It can fit a 500ml water bottle along with other things.
Things to consider
- It is not padded so it provides little to no protection for delicate things such as laptops and tablets.
- The sunglasses holder is quite small and tight. You might need to think twice about placing your expensive sunglasses as they might get crushed.

I’ve also taken this thing on camping trips and through the mud. It’s survived everything I’ve thrown at it, which is what I come to expect from 5.11.

This is an amazing amazing get home bag in my opinion and has tons of other applications as well as just a jack-of-all-trades bag.

...I still think that this is the best bang for your buck EDC backpack. It's built like a tank and I think it would hold up a lifetime. The amount of organization and space is plenty without overwhelming you.
