The Hill People Gear Tarahumara and the Timbuk2 Aviator are two carry-on backpacks that, despite their differences, each serve their own niche. The smaller and lighter Tarahumara, created by the Hill People Gear is a purpose-built piece of gear primarily made to last and perform under rigorous outdoor conditions. Particularly noteworthy is the material choice of 500D Cordura, known for its durability and resistance against wear and tear. The lack of a laptop compartment, however, might make it less palatable to digital nomads or frequent travelers.

On the other hand, we have the Thule-made Timbuk2 Aviator. Boasting a full 30 liters of carrying volume, the Aviator is significantly larger and heavier and also made for a different audience. Based on numerous reviews, it seems that the Tarahumara's almost Spartan simplicity and robust build quality have won over many. The reviewers have commented on its impressive internal space, despite its smaller external dimensions. On the other hand, specific details about the Aviator's user experience are somewhat scarce. However, the larger capacity and wider body, as well as the compatibility with a variety of airlines, speak for themselves. Overall, both backpacks have their merits and cater to different needs, making the choice heavily dependent on individual requirements and preferences.
